The True Post (Web News)Applications are now open for Alberta’s Parent Payment Program, designed to support families affected by the ongoing teachers’ strike.
The program provides $30 per student per instructional day to help offset extra costs families face while children are home due to labour disruptions. Parents and guardians of children aged 12 and under enrolled in public, Catholic, or francophone schools affected by the strike are eligible.
Applications can be submitted through parentpayment.Alberta.ca or by following the link on Alberta.ca the only official access points for the program.
Additional assistance is available for families with active Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) agreements. Those with FSCD agreements for children aged 12 and under can receive an extra $30 per child per day, while families with FSCD children aged 13 to 17 qualify for $60 per day. Combined with the base program, this equals up to $300 per five-day school week.
Payments will be issued via e-transfer on the last day of each month, retroactive to October 6, with the first payment scheduled for October 31.
Eligibility criteria:
Parent or guardian of a child aged 12 or under.
Child must attend a public, Catholic, or francophone school affected by the strike.
Both parent and child must be Alberta residents.
For additional FSCD support, families must have an active FSCD agreement for a child aged 17 or under.
How to apply:
Log in to your verified Alberta.ca account (or create one if you don’t have it).
Register through the Parent Payment Program portal on Alberta.ca.
Only one parent or guardian per child can receive the payment, and all applications will be verified for eligibility.
