Former South Korean Prime Minister and Intelligence Agency Chief Arrested on Charges of Aiding Martial Law

Seoul: A former South Korean Prime Minister and Intelligence Agency Chief have been arrested on charges of aiding martial law. According to foreign media, police in South Korea arrested former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn on Wednesday morning on charges of inciting rebellion and aiding martial law.

According to the report, police also arrested former National Intelligence Service chief Cho Tae-yong on charges including aiding martial law. It should be noted that the South Korean president had imposed martial law in December 2024, but later announced the lifting of martial law after parliament voted against it.

The President was impeached for the imposition of martial law and was removed from office, and legal proceedings were also initiated against him on charges of rebellion.
