Government will not Buy Electricity: Federal Minister for Power Division

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has said that the task force on IPPs has done a remarkable job and now the government will not buy electricity. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Awais Leghari said that the energy sector is being developed on a modern level, where every effort has been made to provide relief to the people.

He said that billions of rupees have been saved by solving technical problems in the energy sector, while the price of electricity has been reduced by 10.5 percent in the last 18 months.

Energy Minister has also said that the task force on IPPs has done a remarkable job and now the government will not buy electricity. In addition, an effective plan has been made to eliminate circular debt, a loan agreement of Rs 1200 billion has been signed to reduce circular debt and circular debt has been reduced by Rs 700 billion in one year.

Awais Leghari further said that prepaid facilities will also be available to consumers in automated metering.
