The True Post (Web News) An important breakthrough has been made towards resolving the years-long conflict in the Middle East region.
Israel and Hamas have formally approved the first phase of the US-brokered Gaza peace deal, which aims to end the war, address the humanitarian crisis, and pave the way for lasting stability in the region.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the historic development in a special statement, saying that “this is a major turning point in the long struggle for peace, which will enable the early release of all hostages, while Israeli forces will gradually withdraw from certain areas of Gaza.”
According to President Trump, the implementation of the deal will be in three phases. The first phase will focus on an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, and the restoration of humanitarian aid. The second phase will focus on building consensus on Gaza’s administrative structure and security issues through political negotiations. While the third phase will announce a permanent peace agreement and reconstruction plans.
President Trump thanked Qatar, Egypt and Turkey in particular, saying, “These countries played a key role in the behind-the-scenes reconciliation efforts, without which this agreement would not have been possible.” He added, “This day is a message of hope and peace, not just for Gaza or Israel, but for the entire Arab and Muslim world and the United States.” According to sources, a formal announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza is expected sometime today, while the details of the agreement and the implementation mechanism will be made public in the next few days. On the other hand, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has also confirmed that “a preliminary agreement has been reached, which includes a ceasefire, the restoration of humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and prisoners.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a brief statement, “We are committed to the protection and return of our citizens. “This agreement is the first positive step towards the release of our prisoners and peace in the region.” Palestinian circles, meanwhile, have described this development as “cautiously welcome,” expressing hope that this process will not just be a temporary ceasefire but will prove to be the starting point for lasting peace and freedom for the people of Gaza.
