The True Post (Web News) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the United States is seeing new opportunities to further expand its strategic relationship with Pakistan.
He says that improving relations with Islamabad is not in conflict with US relations with India, but rather balanced relations with both countries are part of US foreign policy.
Marco Rubio said during his weekly press briefing that the US wants to promote cooperation with Pakistan on counter-terrorism, economic ties and partnership for stability in the region. When asked whether India has expressed any reservations or concerns about the growing US-Pakistan relations, he said that no, it has not, however, historically there have been tensions in Pakistan-India relations, so India may naturally be concerned.
However, the United States has relations with different countries of the world and this is part of our foreign policy.” The US Secretary of State added that Pakistan and the United States have had a long history of cooperation against terrorism and Washington wants to take this cooperation further. He said, “We know that there have been some difficulties in the relationship, but the recent improvement is a positive development and we hope that this trend will continue.” Marco Rubio clarified that strengthening relations with Pakistan **will not affect relations with India, but cooperation with both countries is part of the balanced foreign policy of the United States. It is worth mentioning that according to reports last month, progress is being made to conclude a new agreement between Pakistan and the United States regarding the export of rare earth minerals, which marks a new chapter in strategic cooperation between the two countries. According to experts, if this development takes practical form, it will create new energy in Pakistan-US relations at the economic and geostrategic levels.
