The True Post (Web News)Air Canada has announced an expansion of its daily flights between Toronto and Ottawa, reinforcing its position within Canada’s busy Eastern Triangle corridor.
Starting January 2026, Air Canada will increase round-trip flights from Toronto Island’s Billy Bishop City Airport to Montreal from eight to nine daily, and from Toronto to Ottawa from four to six daily.
The move places Air Canada in direct competition with Porter Airlines, which has long dominated domestic and transborder routes out of Billy Bishop Airport.
Meanwhile, Porter Airlines has unveiled its own expansion plans, increasing flights from Ottawa to sunny destinations by up to 25%. The airline will launch two new international routes:
Ottawa–Miami, with three weekly flights starting in January, and
Ottawa–Phoenix, with three weekly flights beginning in February.
Porter is also expanding capacity on routes from Ottawa to Grand Cayman, Liberia (Costa Rica), and Puerto Vallarta (Mexico).
Additionally, Air Canada confirmed it will continue operating year-round nonstop flights from Ottawa to London, England, maintaining its position as the only Canadian airline directly linking the capital with Europe.
