Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Arrested in Corruption Case, Escapes from Rawalpindi Police Custody

Rawalpindi: Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Iqbal Sanghera arrested in a corruption case has escaped from police custody in Rawalpindi.

According to details, a case has been registered against four officials, including the Assistant Sub-Inspector of Chakri Police Station, on the orders of the CPO. The accused was being transferred from Rawalpindi to Lahore when he managed to escape from the Chakri Motorway Rest Area.

Police stated that a case has been registered against ASI Zafar Iqbal, Constable Yasir, Ahmed Bilal, and Muharram Shahzad for their alleged negligence leading to the escape of Iqbal Sanghera, who had been arrested in Lahore in connection with a corruption case.

The case against the officials has been filed under Section 155C of the Police Order, along with Sections 223, 224, and 225 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Sanghera had been brought to Rawalpindi from Lahore to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court in connection with a case registered three years ago.

While being transferred back to Lahore, Sanghera escaped from police custody at the Chakri Rest Area. He had gone to use the washroom at the Chakri Motorway Service Area, where his brother already present at the location took him away in his car. The brother was reportedly accompanied by six unidentified individuals.
