Islamabad: The opposition alliance has announced the launch of a movement aimed at restoring the constitution, beginning with a march today from Parliament to the Supreme Court.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser stated that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the security agencies and the government. However, he alleged that the government is preoccupied with filing cases against political opponents and making unconstitutional amendments.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas of Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen emphasized that it is time for the public to take to the streets to safeguard the future of coming generations.
Meanwhile, a general house meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association was held, during which lawyers staged a protest and organized a rally. Slogans were also raised against the 27th Amendment.
The lawyers marched from GPO Chowk to the Judges Gate signboard. On this occasion, Salman Akram Raja stated, “We must rise for the sake of our future generations; we cannot afford to stay silent at home.”
