Pakistan is Ready to Cooperate if the Afghan Government Takes Effective Action Against TTP: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate if the Afghan government takes effective action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist groups.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that peace and stability are the basis of sustainable development. We believe that development is possible in a society where there are peace and security.

He said that Pakistan has also faced anti-peace actions many times. We have always shown determination in stability and defence of the homeland. Our armed forces have thwarted the enemy’s intentions with excellent professional performance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that in May this year, an unprovoked aggression was carried out on the eastern border, while last month, attacks were carried out on Pakistani posts from Afghan soil, to which Pakistan gave a solid and decisive response. The ongoing conflicts around the world have highlighted the importance of peace.

He said that Afghanistan must understand that peace will not be achieved by supporting the banned TTP. Pakistan is ready to cooperate if the Afghan government takes effective action against the TTP and other groups.

It should be noted that delegations from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Palestine, Morocco, Rwanda, Liberia, Barbados and Nepal are participating in the two-day inter-parliamentary conference underway in Islamabad. The aim of the conference is to strengthen global peace, development and promotion of international parliamentary relations.
