The True Post (Web News)Calgary experienced its first snowfall of the season over the weekend, accompanied by strong winds that reminded residents winter is on its way back.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, wind speeds at Calgary International Airport reached up to 70 kilometres per hour on Saturday, while about one to two centimetres of snow blanketed most parts of the city.
Meteorologist Rob Griffith said the west side of the city may have received slightly more snow but noted that the cold snap won’t last long. “We’ll see chilly weather through Thanksgiving Monday, but by mid-week temperatures will rise again, with a high of 11°C on Wednesday and 17°C on Thursday,” he said.
Despite the brief return of winter weather, many Calgarians took it in stride. Some residents said they were ready for the season, while others admitted the sudden change caught them by surprise.
City officials are reminding residents to prepare for winter conditions by checking weather updates, installing winter tires, and securing outdoor spaces before more snow arrives later this month.
