West Indies Create New History In Odi Cricket

The True Post  (Web News) The West Indies cricket team set a unique world record in the second ODI match against Bangladesh.

The three-match ODI series is underway at the Mirpur Stadium in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. In the first match of the series, the host team defeated the West Indies by 74 runs to take a 0-1 lead, but in the second match, the Caribbean team made a historic comeback. The West Indies bowled the entire 50 overs in the second ODI to spinners — a new world record. This is the first time that any team has not bowled a single over to fast bowlers in a One Day International match. During the match, the West Indies’ five spinners bowled their full quota of 10 overs each. Although the team included fast bowler **Rutherford**, the captain did not bowl a single over to him.
In terms of performance, Aqeel Hossain took 2 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs and maidened one over. Rastan Chase gave away 44 runs in 10 overs, maidened 2 overs but could not take any wickets. Gudakesh Moti took 3 wickets for 65 runs in 10 overs. Kheri Pierre gave away 43 runs in 10 overs, but failed to take a wicket. Alex Athanasius bowled brilliantly, taking 2 wickets for just 14 runs and maidening 3 overs. According to the ICC, the previous record for bowling the most spin overs was held by Sri Lanka*, who bowled 44 overs on three separate occasions —
against the West Indies in 1996, against New Zealand in 1998 and against Australia in 2004. This strategy by the West Indies not only surprised cricket fans but also created a new history — a match that did not include a single over of fast bowling.
