PTI Founder Challenges Witness Statements Recorded via WhatsApp in GHQ Attack Case

The True Post (Web News)The founder chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the statements of 10 witnesses recorded through WhatsApp in the GHQ attack case.

According to Express News, a petition filed in court stated that witness statements recorded via a WhatsApp link hold no legal validity, and requested that the jail trial be moved to open court.

The petition further argued that since the defense did not hear the witnesses’ statements, cross-examination is not possible, and for the sake of justice, those witnesses should be recalled and their statements recorded again in person.

The court has accepted the petition for hearing, issued notices to the prosecutor, and directed both parties’ lawyers to present their arguments on November 5.

Later, PTI founder’s lawyer Faisal Malik spoke to the media outside the anti-terrorism court, saying that the hearing of the GHQ attack case was scheduled for today. “The entire legal team of Imran Khan appeared before the court. We were expecting proceedings to continue today, but the hearing has been postponed,” he said.
