Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Peace Jirga to be held in Peshawar Today

Peshawar: A peace jirga organized by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is being held in the provincial assembly today, for which arrangements have been made to seat 400 people in the assembly hall, while a special security plan has been made for the occasion. The announcement of the peace jirga will be presented to the federal government, security agencies and the apex committee. Leaders of major political parties, religious figures, elders and parliamentarians have been invited to the jirga.

Special passes have been issued for the participants of the jirga, while strict security arrangements have been made around the assembly. Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati reached the assembly, where he was presented with a guard of honor.

Speaking to the media, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that all the parties that have been invited will participate in the jirga, and it is hoped that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa peace jirga will prove successful. Meanwhile, the flow of guests continues in the assembly hall, and security personnel have taken complete control of the area before the start of the jirga.

Special Assistant for Information Shafi Jan said that a historic “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Aman Jirga” is being organized today under the hosting of the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, in which all schools of thought of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been invited.

Shafi Jan said that under the leadership of the young Chief Minister of the province, according to the vision of the founding chairman Imran Khan, the provincial government is taking all possible steps to improve law and order. Today, we resolve that decisions for peace will be made within the houses of public representatives. We seek lasting peace through dialogue and negotiations with all stakeholders.
